A Place to Hide is written and directed by Eámonn Wrightstone. The summary is as follows:

“Charlie and his mother, Laura, are on the brink of poverty, living out of a motel room they rent monthly. His mother, with late-stage dementia, requires constant care; leaving him unable to work. Receiving no help from his absent father, Charlie resorts to sex work at night to get the money he needs to care for his mother.”

Editing this film was practice in cutting for emotion; understanding that even in simple takes, there is plenty of time spent understanding the core values of human emotion and how to capture that by framing exactly what an audience needs to see, and how long they need to feel.
